Nosey vs Observant

Although the similarities are endless, there is a distinct difference between a nosey person and one who is just observant. First and foremost, an observant person doesn't really give a shit about your conversation, they just happen to overhear it! This is what happens when you pay attention to your surroundings - or the other person is just loud as hell.

A nosey person, however, goes out of their way and exerts effort to ear hustle in your conversation. This means they feel they have a reason to listen and are therefore being nosey, involving themselves in what sometimes, most of the times, has nothing to do with them. More than likely in these situations you are dealing with a nosey person. Easiest way to tell the difference ... if the person jumps into the conversation or just laughs to themselves.

I'd like to consider myself a pretty observant person. It kinda comes with the Scorpio territory. But even I have my nosey side. It just so happens that 95% of the time, I can differentiate between the two! It's not that hard, you should try it sometime! I've always noticed these differences when it comes to geographics! Let's take Borough residents vs Long Island residents as the example. The majority of people who live in the Boroughs have to be aware of their surroundings at all times, for obvious reasons. Much more serious shit pops off in the Boroughs than it does in Long Island. Yet, people in Long Island, are for the most part, just nosey. Everyone who lives in Long Island could tell you that everyone is always in everyone else's shit! Not that Facebook hasn't made that factor any better!

Ah yes, thanks to Facebook - people now have an additional way to put their unnecessary two sense in. I'd say unsolicited but if you write some personal or some dumb shit on ya status - you are in fact soliciting comments!

Back to my point. An observant person, in most instances, is the paranoid person in the group who catches everything! Ev-ery-thing. Ev-ery-thing! (Katt Williams voice!) Observant people catch when you bust ya ass, the shit you mumble under your breath or the fact that you've worn the same jeans all week with different shirts! A nosey person actually looks for these things!

Next time you're out in public - take a minute to observe yourself. See which category you fall into and adjust yourself accordingly! And remember ... Jo Jo Said It!
