Expression Through Poetry

For all intensive purposes, a poem is nothing more than a bunch of words thrown together. A poem is proof that it's not just the words you use, but the way one puts those words together combined with the meaning behind the words as well. Some people, from what I've noticed, write poetry as their way of venting. In light of "Talk It Out Tuesday," I'd like to take the day to reflect on such people and their poetry.

Written word goes a long way, especially with the help of the Internet! One will never know when someone else in the world will use their words as comfort. It's like those times when someone says something to you that is so true that it just "hits home"; echoes in your ears for a few moments after it's said. Poetry is the ventilation of life through the eyes of the poet! Of course, there are still poets who reflect on the joys life brings but most poets, write about the hardships we can all relate to.

So let's take just a few moments throughout the day to push all the phones, the distractions, the haters, the confused, the bitter and the deceitful into a world outside ours ... and listen to the messages of those who still care enough to speak on their beliefs, share their optimism, want us to laugh with them at their mistakes or just inhale the truths that they exhale.

At Noon today, I will be showcasing one of my favorite Def Poets who brought a message to the stage that everyone should hear! Her comical approach, I feel, allowed her voice to deliver her emotions without offending anyone. In light of the weekly theme I feel this poem is relevant because it was inspired by someone who just couldn't keep it funky! A person whom I have never met, but his "type" is all too common.

So Ladies .... enjoy .... LISTEN TO HER MESSAGE!
Fellas ... if it doesn't apply ... let it fly!
