Motivational Tidbits

Just a little randomness to add to your Superbowl Sunday!!!! For those of you who are stuck in a situation that you are just not happy with here's some thought for you to ponder when your nice and drunk after the big game ...

1. If you are busting your ass for a dead end job or for a boss who barely knows your name, never the less the work you do, you need to pick ya lazy ass up, revamp your resume and start sending it out to whoever has an opening. If you don't feel appreciated, odds are you probably aren't and should pause and reflect on your situation. Last time I checked, you can't pay your bills with a pat on the back ... or that's right, you're not even getting that! Hmm, there's your answer!

2. If you are in a relationship that you are not benefiting from than you need to first think about what it is you want out of the relationship and respond accordingly. I'm not saying get up and leave someone just because they never remember to put the toilet seat down! I'm just saying, you shouldn't waste anymore time if you've know you can't deal with something that is never going to change.

3. If you are attending a Superbowl party and allowed a friend to convince you to change your outfit before you go (and you knew the outfit looked good), than you should seriously consider growing a backbone before the morning and stop letting people beat you in the head. They probably just didn't want you to look better than them!

4. Valentine's Day is around the corner ... before you just pick any random person to be your Valentine just so you don't spend the holiday alone ... keep in mind that only you have to face the music the morning after. Loneliness, alcohol and pity sex don't really make a good combination!

5. Be your own person. There is no one in this world who should love you more than you love yourself. You don't have to become a cocky asshole to love yourself! You can be humble and still know you're worth! It goes a long way if you genuinely believe how great you are! Corny but true!

Always remember that no one is going to live your life for you and you only get one life. Make sure you make every moment count. Mistakes happen, but there's no need to keep repeating the same ones! There's more than enough mistakes to be made for you to limit yourself to the same handful!

The Bottom Line

This life could offer so much potential if you choose to be open to it. NOTHING in this world is handed to you and if it is, it is almost guaranteed to be out of your control (with the exception of inheritance of course!) Do you really think someone is just going to waltz into your life and make your dreams your reality? Hell no! This is why you need to be aware of your surroundings, consider every options and actively look for new ones!

There's a world of money to be made out there, remember that each time you turn on your computer! Let's pause and reflect ... each time you sign on to your email, your browser, your social network, what do you see? Nothing but advertisements. Some of you are probably too ignorant to realize the ads but almost every graphic around the information you are searching for, is an ad. Who do you think is running those ads? People like you! Well, maybe not people exactly like you because those people are actually doing something with themselves. But you don't have to know these people personally to learn from them.

Let's break this down. How can you sit there and say that there are no jobs out there? I say this time and time again, but it's so true. There is plenty of money to be made out there IF you are open to the suggestion. All this recession really means is that you have to try harder, venture out into new things and of course, learn to accept change! Stop being so damn lazy and get out there. If you don't know where else to turn, go to friggin Google! Type in whatever interests you and start from there. You may spend a few hours sorting out all of the different websites but who cares, you ain't working right now so you got nothing but time on your hands? Why not utilize is in the smartest way possible?

Look, I work for a company who on the daily, gives anyone with common sense and a computer an opportunity to make a very decent bi-weekly income just for writing about things they already have! Who would have thought that you'd be able to buy a product you needed anyway, (using your own money of course) and then writing up a review about that product and getting paid for it? Only on the Internet could you do that! And there are plenty of income sources like this! Shiit, I make money just for posting advertisements that I know my friends and family will want to know about! It's slow money but it adds up rather quickly if you put the time into it. Don't got the time? Use another source on the Internet to schedule and post the ads for you! It's that easy and you have no excuses for being the lazy loser you have let yourself become!

Need more sources to make money? Hit my inbox and we'll discuss! I can't be putting everyone on but if you're serious about getting your shit together, I'll fill you in on the easiest ways to start! Just remember, one step at a time and don't let anyone hold you back from what you know you deserve! Not your friends, not your family, not your significant other and not your current boss. Odds are that your boss probably only sees you as an income expense and not a person anyway!

The Baby Voice

Am I the only one who gets overly annoyed when grown people, male or female, throw on that baby voice when they've put themselves in manipulation mode? Lord, nothing is more annoying! Especially when they continue it throughout an entire conversation. Don't get me wrong, I bat my eyes and soften my voice like the best of them - when I want something. But that usually lasts for no more than a sentence (or in most cases, my apology!)

But then I'm right back to my usual JoJo sporadic thought and frequently cursing tone! Why? Because that's who I am. Why change who I am on your accord? Nnnnnnnaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!

The next time you think you are as cute as the baby in this picture, take a mirror out, have a moment of silence for your age, and act accordingly! If you are a female and are with a man who falls for this type of behavior .... I suggest you keep a slide on the side cuz eventually that man gonna leave ya ass for a grown woman who don't need the baby voice to get what she wants!!!!! Boooooo Yahhhhhh!!!!! Yeaaaaaa..... JoJo said it bitches!!!! Get some new game!

Nosey vs Observant

Although the similarities are endless, there is a distinct difference between a nosey person and one who is just observant. First and foremost, an observant person doesn't really give a shit about your conversation, they just happen to overhear it! This is what happens when you pay attention to your surroundings - or the other person is just loud as hell.

A nosey person, however, goes out of their way and exerts effort to ear hustle in your conversation. This means they feel they have a reason to listen and are therefore being nosey, involving themselves in what sometimes, most of the times, has nothing to do with them. More than likely in these situations you are dealing with a nosey person. Easiest way to tell the difference ... if the person jumps into the conversation or just laughs to themselves.

I'd like to consider myself a pretty observant person. It kinda comes with the Scorpio territory. But even I have my nosey side. It just so happens that 95% of the time, I can differentiate between the two! It's not that hard, you should try it sometime! I've always noticed these differences when it comes to geographics! Let's take Borough residents vs Long Island residents as the example. The majority of people who live in the Boroughs have to be aware of their surroundings at all times, for obvious reasons. Much more serious shit pops off in the Boroughs than it does in Long Island. Yet, people in Long Island, are for the most part, just nosey. Everyone who lives in Long Island could tell you that everyone is always in everyone else's shit! Not that Facebook hasn't made that factor any better!

Ah yes, thanks to Facebook - people now have an additional way to put their unnecessary two sense in. I'd say unsolicited but if you write some personal or some dumb shit on ya status - you are in fact soliciting comments!

Back to my point. An observant person, in most instances, is the paranoid person in the group who catches everything! Ev-ery-thing. Ev-ery-thing! (Katt Williams voice!) Observant people catch when you bust ya ass, the shit you mumble under your breath or the fact that you've worn the same jeans all week with different shirts! A nosey person actually looks for these things!

Next time you're out in public - take a minute to observe yourself. See which category you fall into and adjust yourself accordingly! And remember ... Jo Jo Said It!

The Fragile Fear of Starting Over

Dammit Kanye! It is now Day 4 that "Toast" is simmering in my head. It doesn't help that it's been getting hourly airplay either. So I feel the need to break it down now. We all hear Kanye's side as a man, but what about the women on the other side of this spectrum? Yes, most females who stand by these types of men are just weak, suckaz for love, but not all! Sadly, and I say sadly because it is sad, that there are strong females who stand by a man, dealing with all their smutery because of 3 main reasons: love, loyalty and the fact that they know their man is not physically cheating! Bitch, he's STILL in violation here!

As much as it sucks to admit ladies, they are never going to change without losing something they hold dear. Which is a contradiction in itself because if they held you dear, would they be drifting elsewhere? Even if it is just to casually flirt with other females solely to maintain their own ego, it's not right and you (despite who you are) are a woman at the end of the day and you don't deserve to be treated like a byrd. Mask it however you like, make whatever excuses you want, but because you stay loyal to a man who everyone, including yourself, can see is openly flirting with other females, is treating you like a byrd. He's sure as hell making you look like one! And I'm not saying talking about healthy, casual flirting here. I'm talking about the level of flirting that makes him seem single!

Now, back to Kanye's message. It's as clear as the message from the movie "He's Just Not That Into You." Do we really have to break down the lines of his song? From the very beginning of the song, that man starts his 5 minute warning to females in general. I can't lie, when I first heard the song I wanted to break something! It made every excuse I ever came up with go right out the window. If your man is jamming out to that song, you should really double check yaself, forget bout him. Take a good look at what YOU allow! Again I say that Eve said it the best, men only do what we allow, and in most cases, we do let them!

As hard as we try, we can't change other people. When you try to change someone else you wind up allowing yourself to change for that person. Why? Because that person is not going to change their ways for you, so what winds up happening? You mold your ways to accommodate them, knowing the entire time that they will not show you the same respect. A relationship is 50/50. And I'm not talking about financial input, no relationship will ever be equal in that respect. But effort-wise, everything should be 50/50. You should not be doing anything for a man or a woman for that matter, they are not willing to do for you.

You allow your man to send random females pictures of his personals... do you think he would accept you doing that same thing? Hell no! Try it, you'll find yourself in the middle of the "you're a female, you should respect yourself and stop acting like a whore," speech which comes right before he deads you! Trust me, if he doesn't dead you, he really doesn't give two shits about you. Any man with respect for himself shouldn't allow you to be loose like that. And you should be following the same rule. Trust me, I know it can be much easier said than done. But the last thing you want to do is settle for that type of behavior! Where does it end if you do? How far is he going to take his smutery if you allow it?

It's such a touchy subject but you have a man that does anything Kanye has described in that song, just keep these golden rules in the back of your head. You WILL drive yourself crazy trying to change him. You WILL slowly and repeatedly break your own heart standing by him waiting for him to change himself. And as much as it hurts, you WILL eventually find yourself in the position where leaving him seems like the only way to show him how serious you are. Why? Because YOU allowed him to do the same bullshit to you for so long that it's too late to put your foot down!

It's a sad situation. If you think it's hard now, keep doing what you're doing. Eventually you'll realize that these types of guys and situations will linger on and on and on until YOU put an end to it or they just get bored with you. Put yourself in their shoes, if you had your cake and were able to eat it too, would you give it up?

Abusing Social Networks

Whether it be Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, or whichever social network you use, there are too many people abusing it. Yes, these sites are more or less for entertainment purposes, but that's not the only reason. Here's some of the bullshit people do on these sites that makes me want to hack into their computers and delete their accounts!

1. Stealing pictures and making fake profiles. Are you serious? I understand that there are more ugly people in the world than there are pretty people. But I think it's pretty safe to say that if you're ugly, you've been this way you're entire life. By now you should be used to it. Not stealing people's pictures to make fake profiles just to get pretty people to talk to you! What is the point of that? It's not like you can ever go meet them. You've already lied to them. Pointless and highly annoying.

2. Posting Dumb Shit. Yes, we all, at times, post something stupid. Whether it be what we're eating, a quote from a movie no one has ever seen or just a little side note that popped into our head. This is what these sites are for, to voice what's on our mind. But there is no need to give everyone a play by play of your day when your day doesn't consist of shit! No one cares about every meal you eat, when you are in the shower, or the bathroom or how bored you are in class! Wait til you have something interesting to say, then post!

3. Claiming lines that are not your own. Why do people post shit that other people have said and don't give them credit? Seriously, you make yourself look stupid. Somewhere in the world, there is someone looking at their screen on some "he didn't say that" type shit and laughing at you. It takes two seconds to give someone credit. If you are one of these people, mainly Twitter users, do not get mad when you get roasted by multiple people!

4. Computer Thugs. Everyone knows what a computer thug is. I'm not even gonna waste my time explaining how fucking ignorant you make yourself look by doing this! Just know that eventually this will catch up with you and you will get ya ass whooped for talking shit on a computer then proceeding to act like nothing is wrong when you get caught out there in person!

5. The Network Boo. Now this, is a toss up. A very fine line must be drawn here. We all have someone or certain people that we have never met but talk to on the regular on these sites. We'll use Twitter as an example. I, myself, have a few "Twitter Boo's", BUT they are just that. No one has my number for personal use, no one calls or texts me, just to shoot the breeze. If you're thinking about me and want me to know, email me. Some of these people think just because we are in a different state that we can just jones on the phone like that. And the point of that would be what? To get to know someone that lives halfway around the world that you never had any intentions of meeting in person? How's ya life?

Social networking sites are for keeping in touch with people and networking with people you don't know. It's a great business and marketing tool, one of the best ways to kill some time or get a good laugh in. But some people are taking this shit way too seriously. We all need to realize that just because we may see these sites as entertainment, not everyone we are talking to sees it the same way. There are some people on these sites solely to find their "soul mate." Everything you say to them, in their eyes, is written in stone.  You leave them a comment on their pics and they get gassed. You leave an "I miss you" comment and they leave their phone number on your page. I love when I go to someones page and see a comment left by someone I know is just a "site friend" and see them leaving comments like "where have you been, I miss you," or "why haven't you called me?" Why? Because I don't even fucking know you!!!!! It's like Drake said, "I'm shutting shit down at the mall, And telling every girl she the one for me, And I ain't even planning to call ..." Take the hint!

Air It Out - The Greedy Spouse

A little bit of flirting never hurt nobody ... BUT ... I'm really feeling the need to air out all you people who are in a relationship, which in most cases, is with someone who you don't deserve in the first place ... and you are still being overly flirtatious with the opposite sex. WHY? Some people may say that in these cases, it's just like the movie says .... "he's just not that into you!" But is that really always the case? I think not. I'm really starting to believe that some people are just relationship greedy. Now, when I say relationship, in this aspect, I mean constant interaction with the opposite sex. I may not be dating more than one person but I sure as hell have relationships with many male friends and acquaintances;, those relationships are just strictly platonic. But I'm only human, I do get my flirt on too! There's limitations to flirting with "outside forces" when you are in a committed relationship.

I've come to the conclusion that Social Websites such as Twitter, Facebook and the now dying trend of Myspace, can be detramental to these greedy people. Do you know how many times I've heard, myself included, women go crazy over something they seen on their boyfriends pages? Some of these guys have some nerve! For those of you who take everything word for word, let me clarify my point. I'm not saying if you are in a relationship you shouldn't have these sites or shouldn't comment on any other female aside your girl. What I am saying is KNOW when you are being disrespectful to your girl!

Let's face facts, your girl, whoever she may be, is not going to be the prettiest girl in the world. She sure as hell ain't gonna be the only girl in the world that you find attractive. Commenting on another pretty female is cool. BUT, to leave another female a sexual comment, get too detailed on her pix or just flat out ask her "Can I come over?," is a straight violation of your own relationship. How would you like it if someone told you that they seen your girl comment on some other guys page ... "Wish you were here with me?"

I don't think that would go over too well! So why do it to her? Look, bottom line. No one is perfect and again I will say, with confidence, Human Nature is a Sneaky Bitch! But here's my philosophy ... A Guy will ALWAYS be a Guy at the end of the day ... all I ask is that you keep that shit away from me. You wanna casually flirt with someone, be my guest ... but don't let that shit get back to me! You always wanna give your partner some breathing room so that they don't change who they are just because they are in a relationship. Keeping your individuality is KEY to the survival of your relationship. BUT BE RESPECTFUL!!!!

Are You Loyal or Just A Sucker?!?

How does someone differentiate betwen being a loyal partner or a sucker for love? Where do we draw the line? Yes, especially in this day and age, we all have our flaws, find ourselves in hard places and/or are just struggling to get ahead. Everyone who is in a relationship knows how hard it can be to accomplish a personal goal when you're actions directly affect someone else. Here's a few situations that are common in relationships, but can be quite sticky ones if not handled correctly (or with malicious intent.)

1. The Continuously Unemployed Partner : First, ask yourself this, how long have they been without a job? We're in a recession people! Don't start questioning your spouses loyalty to you just because they haven't worked in a few months! Focus on what they are doing to find a job instead of how long they've been out of work. You always want to handle this situation with delicacy until you get your facts straight, especially when dealing with a man. Ladies, he is a MAN, and his pride AS A MAN will always be on a defense if he is not earning FOR HIMSELF! Respect that boundary, understand that this is not about YOU even though it affects you, but don't let him take advantage. Find that common understanding.

2. Too Much Freedom : It's cool to have that breathing room in your relationship; that freedom to not be anally retentive to each other's hip. But, this "privellage" is not always given before earned and can just as easily be abused. Personally, I'm old-fashion when it comes to this. It's a gender thing to me. There's certain situations us, as females in a rleationship, should never put ourselves in (despite how much freedom we are given.) Perfect examples, being at parties or clubs without our man. ACT ACCORDINGLY! Just because you're man ain't physically with you doesn't mean he doesn't exist. If you go to the club, get drunk and act a fool ... those are your actions ... be prepared to take whatever responsibility they come with it.

3. Public Communication and Image : If your relationship is anything like mine; that's my best friend. We speak to each other abruptly; no punches, no sugar coating! Straight facts, just the way I like it, even if I don't want to hear what he's saying! BUT, there is a time and a place for everything. Certain things should only be said or spoken about in private. If your partner is constantly airing out personal business in front of mixed company, you may wanna look closer into that!

4. Sharing is Caring (or in this case growing) : Not everything you do in your own life is going to involve your partner. Take a quick look at the aspects of your life that don't involve them. Are they still interested in them? These aspects are key, (in my eyes), to keeping your own identity while cultivating your life together. I call them the escapes. My main escape is my writing, his, is his Xbox; nothing to do with each other. However, it brings us closer as the "team" we are, when I play a game or two with him or he occasionally comes with me to my Poetry Slams ... what does yours do for you? Or you for yours?

I could go on forever, but the point is, human nature is a bitch. It's very easy to mistake kindness for weakness or take advantage of the comfortability aspect of your relationship. In order to maintain and build a healthy relatinship, you first want to make sure that you have one!

Don't Flatter Yourself

There are some things in life that we are just not meant to figure out. For example, why is it that "friends," hide emotions? Now I say this on many different levels, which you all know I'm about to break down for you! In my almost 28 years in this world, I've noticed that these "emotion hiding friends" only hide there emotions in certain situations.

The "I fell for you" Emotion
This has to be the most annoying situation one can find themselves in. Now I understand that we are all human and cannot help who we fall for. BUT, if someone trusts you as their friend, they confide in you. Do not break that trust by catching feelings for that person, and hiding them. the longer you wait in this situation (without exposing your true feelings,) the more abrupt your friendship is going to end. Personally, I would rather know how you really feel so I can pick and chose (if I want to) what advice I ask you for. If I know you have feelings for me, I'm not going to trust your opinion about who I'm dating because your opinion will always be biased based on the way you feel for me. This is not a true friend!

The "I'm ashamed of myself" Emotion
Now, although this example is one of many I could have used. We all have that one friend who lies about the dumbest shit, (i.e. who they're sleeping with, how much money they make, who they know...) so we can all relate to this category. What you do, is what you do! Why lie to someone else about something, that in all essence, doesn't affect them in the least?!?!? I don't care who you are sleeping with, unless of course it's the same person I'm sleeping with (or have slept with.) If you want to be a smut, that's cool... for you! Why lie to me about it? Bottom line, if you're out with your girls, and one of your girls gets a booty all (pretty common), just keep it funky! If you find yourself lying to your girls and saying some dumb shit like, "I gotta run home, my mom needs me," YOU are ashamed of whoever you now running to! Again, I ask "Why?" your girls aren't supposed to judge you. We're supposed to make fun of you, then laugh with you of course!

And last but not least, my personal favorite (for entertainment purposes)...

The "I'm just not comfortable in my own skin" Emotion
This is the when it's pure comedy! Have you ever met someone who is so uncomfortable in their own skin that they lie, lie, and lie some more?!?!? They'll be sitting with you talking about their favorite color is blue. Then you catch them talking to someone else about how their favorite color is red?!!? WHAT?!?!? there is no perfect example I can give you to define these people because anyone who knows them knows, if it comes out of their mouth... you have to research it before you believe it! Horrible way to live and these people find themselves only being invited to places by people who either don't really know them or just can't get rid of them!

So the moral of this story is this...
Be comfortable with yourself, know how to express yourself (and when to for that matter) and of course, if you call someone a friend ... it's because you trust them ... show them that by speaking to them honestly and up front!!!
