Let Em Breathe!

The hardest part about a relationship is also one of the most important factors of making one work! The art of letting your partner breathe when THEY need to! Before you even think about the concept in regard to your relationship, think about yourself!  How do you feel when your blood is boiling to the point that you're ready to black out? Everybody has that limit or that one day that (because of whatever reason) they're just not in the mood for bullshit that they'd usually take with a grain of salt! It's only human!

Now, put yourself (and your bad mood) in context to your relationship. You come home frustrated from having a fucked up day at work. You're tired, hungry and just want to relax. Then your partner comes at you with some petty bullshit (or more commonly, something that's important to them but doesn't mean shit to you even if you were in a good mood!) Nine out of ten times, your tension and their disregard of your bad mood is going to lead to a quite unnecessary fight!

LEARN TO LET EM BREATHE!

If your partner would have (to themselves) acknowledged your already fucked up composure and held off on discussing/bitching about their issues - you probably wouldn't have fought. In cases like these, as long as it doesn't become routine or one-sided, it's almost noble to walk on egg-shells for a bit; stroke your partners ego a bit! You're the start of their support team, it's part of your "job"!

Let's take this one step further, shall we? What if the fight escalated or the routine of fights played out and either of you walked away from the situation completely. What do you do?

LEARN TO LET EM BREATHE!

Despite how much was left unsaid, the last words that were said, or the unsettled feelings you are now sitting with - DO NOT CHASE ANYONE!!!! It's not only annoying, it's unattractive! There's a time and a place for everything and sometimes chasing can abruptly end something that could have otherwise been settled productively.

I shouldn't have to say this but I'll clarify this "rule" for those who lack the ability to analyze certain situations. Common sense is needed to execute this rule to perfection. I'm not telling you to walk out on a committed relationship thinking your spouse is gonna let you take your space without consequences. =) You're the only one who knows your partner ... choose your moves accordingly!

All I'm saying is that whether it's 10 minutes or a full day - sometimes it is vital, so let em breathe if they need to! Ladies, I know this rule, whether you like to admit or not, is where most of you fuck up!!! It's hard for us, by nature, not to get what we want, WHEN we want it; especially resolution to an issue. If you love your partner, you must trust your partner (cuz love and trust do go hand in hand) so let them do their guy "remove and sort my head" thing and get used to it cuz it's a part of life. We need our moments too - remember we get bypassed for one week out of every month to be "dysfunctional!" Give that man his own bypass sometimes! Ha, ha, ha!

Yea bitches, JoJo Said It!!!!

The Mistakes of a Woman

As unfortunate as it is, once a woman makes that plunge from innocent to damaged goods, there are a series of events that will happen to her (and anyone she tries to date.)

1. She will never again believe a man who tells her he is working late.
2. She will surely become a stalker on every social networking site in attempts to stay abreast of any brewing situation. This may not be such a bad thing BUT damaged goods will proceed to befriend any of her guy's female friends and/or comment on each and every status comment from a female with some ridiculousness which makes her look very, very insecure.
3. She is bound to cheat at the first moment in which she feels she is being cheated on.
4. She will HATE on any and all happy people around her without even realizing it. This usually comes in the form of bitter comments, tainted advice or my personal pet-peeve, the unnecessary hating of their boyfriends.
5. Her skirts, dresses and shorts will most definitely get shorter than her normal style. This tactic comes from her subconscious needing any and all attention she can get from the opposite sex. (Ladies please know your own body type before doing this.)
6. She will contradict almost everything that she says when it comes to her relationship. This is because she speaks as if she is the resilient person she wants to be only to realize once she is in the situation that she is just not capable of following through with her words.
7. She needs constant reassurance. Yes fellas, I know this is unattractive and highly annoying BUT if you really do care for her, feed into it at seldom times. This will help bring her out of her shell and into her rightful, confident stature.
8. She will try overly hard to impress your friends because she feels that if they vouch for her, so will her new guy! This will only create problems I guarantee you so just stay away from your guys friends. Speak only when spoken to until you are truly confident that your vindictive side is at bay!
9. She will start fights for what you think is no reason. However, in reality, she is starting a meaningless fight and proceed to fight as hard as she can with you each and every time she realizes that she is letting her guard down with you. Corny, yes I know but it happens.
10. She will have no problem and see nothing wrong with going through your phone and calling each and every female number that you have stored. And yes just in case you are wondering, she will proceed to speak to the female, telling her how happy you guys are and how the female should cut you out her life.

Unfortunately, the majority of females do not get over heartbreak. They harbor it until they think they have forgotten or just jump from one relationship to the next in hopes to get over you by getting right under someone else. Word to the wise, if you are going to utilize this rule please understand that the "under" of this rule pertains for a one night stand NOT another relationship!

Bottom line, the only way I personally feel you can help damaged goods (male or female for this matter) is if you were there as a friend to witness the transition. You can not begin to fix something that you are simultaneously trying to understand. It just doesn't work. In all honesty, a relationship should be about growing together not fixing each other!

Yea, Yea JoJoSaidIt bitches!!!

What Do You Know?

With new technology like the Kindle and the rapidly growing trend of audio books, there is no reason in the world for everyone not to enjoy a good book! I'm not saying go out and start a novel, but there's some very interesting reads out there that can be more useful to you than just a way to pass time! Here's some of my favorites that may come in handy one day!

The Art of Seduction
- Robert Greene
Don't be fooled by the title, this book is liable to change your life inside and outside of intimate relationships. If you work in the sales industry, you should seriously consider fitting this read into your schedule!

The Secret Language of Relationships (reissue)
- Gary Goldschenider
This is an interesting read but proceed with caution. Whether you believe in astrology or not, this book is liable to change your whole perspective about your relationship and the types of people you date!

The Secret Language of Birthdays (reissue)
- Alicia Thompson
All I have to say is "... know yourself before involving anyone else."

Set of Harry Potter Books (Harry Potter, Book 1-7)
- J.K. Rowling
Not only are the movies amazing but the books are absolutely brilliant. If you haven't already privileged yourself, I highly recommend you reading the Harry Potter series. You may want to do some reading up on the author as well, her tale is truly a one of a kind story!

The Prince (Bantam Classics)
- Niccolo Machiavelli
You think I'm kidding right now? Do yourself a favor and educate yourself. The language isn't hard to understand and it's pretty short for the amount of knowledge that comes out of it! Guarantees to change your perspectives on government and history!

Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus: The Classic Guide to Understanding the Opposite Sex
- John Gray
This is an oldie but still ever so true! Male or female, before you enter the dating arena, you should get yourselves a copy of this read!

The 2 Sides of a Woman

How alive us women must always be; being the bearers of the gift of life. Yet, how conserved we must keep our emotions and fantasies, as we are devalued in the shine of that light.

We are the delicate flowers that decorate the world. The silent backbones of those who govern the same. We are the nurturers, the lovers and the homemakers. We are usually the ones feeding the power into the game.
...................................................................................................
A real woman  is complex by nature, yet to the naked eye has everything under control. She has two contradicting sides to her core which creates a constant battle between her independence and her natural need to be loved. We are all emotional, impulsive and resort to some for of temper tantrum when we don't get our way. We have to be in order to remind the world that despite how efficient we run the company, maintain the household and upkeep our appearance; we are only human at the end of the day.

For the most part, a real woman can handle the weight of the world on her shoulders, running on the energy of a better cause. Why do you think all woman appreciate compliments so much? Because we feed off the recognition. What else do we get without asking? We definitely don't get compensated by the same salaries. We don't accept payments of catcalls and empty promises. But a genuine compliment ... a sincere, unsolicited form of acknowledgement and appreciation; could make every stress we bare just melt away. Even if just for a split second until the reality sets back in, it gives us the energy we need to face our realities head on.

It's amazing how simply our complex minds can be eased. For the most part, we feed on emotion over logic. Yet that determination is what separates a female from a real woman. The ability to face the reality of a situation without reacting on impulsive emotions. Despite the type of woman you are, all you want is to succeed on your own terms and share your life with someone who allows you to do you. One who accepts you for who you are and encourages you the same.

A real woman understands that she is beautiful and never loses sense of her own attraction. She is confident with her sexuality, her appeal, her fantasies and her nature, yet remains in control of her own emotions. She is capable of professionally running your office, yet returns home to play a completely different role. "A lady in the streets but a freak in the bed." But we can't do this all on our own. I say this to clearly define the intention.

A real woman does not need someone to take care of her. She doesn't need your money, your gifts or your words. A real woman can do this all for herself. She needs your time, your dedication, your support; a real woman needs nothing but your love. The water that enables the seed to grow and the sunlight that allows it to bloom. We need your maturity to stay in tune with your confidence to support our independence. We need you to understand that loyalty stretches further than lies. Leave the lies with the females who still believe them.

A real woman believes in herself. She doesn't need you, she wants you. If you have been blessed with a real woman in your life it is because you have embraced both sides of her. You trust her enough to let her roam as far as her wings can take her; supporting her in the ways that she needs. You are her strength where she falls vulnerable, yet you never throw her weaknesses in her face. You are bonded by an understanding that human nature is a battle you cannot win. Intentions mean more than actions sometimes.

The Ugly Truth

Although most of the time, we don't like to face the ugly truth of things, (most of the time it's the truth about ourselves,) at some point, we have to. Now this truth may come in the form of why every relationship you have has failed. It may be the underlying reason why you always have a problem with coworkers. It could even be the fact that you always seem to find the one person in the room who has the most issues. All these things will continue to happen to you unless you realize the vibe you are feeding into the universe. Yea I said it, if you think for one second that what you put out there isn't going to be returned to you at some point, you are never going to get off the roller coaster you've been on.

The truth of the matter is that we were all given the same basic gifts; a mind, a voice and a heart. It is what we choose to do with those gifts that separates us from the next guy! You have a voice but you don't speak when someone disappoints you, disrespects you or just flat out lies to you. You have a mind, yet you still stay at a dead end job; overworked and underpaid. You want to see the good in people to such a point that you have allowed people to take away from the good in you. Bitterness is a bitch, especially when it is harbored. No one deserves to spend their days coasting through the life of someone else. You have your own life and the same opportunities that were available to your boss, are available to you, if you seek them out. It all starts with motivation.

If you want to be your own boss, go to the damn County Clerk's Office, and fill out the paperwork. If you want to live happily ever after, it's possible, if you love yourself enough to make yourself happy! Now there's a thought that many have forgotten (or never knew in the first place.) Love yourself. How the hell do you expect people to see you for more than how you see yourself? That don't even sound right. Inside, you may feel like you can run an office, maintain a household and care for your family efficiently. Yet, what you show the world is that you only do what you are paid to do at work, you go home and bitch about having to make dinner after working all day and when you're significant other wants some quality time, you claim a headache and go to sleep. Get the picture? If you're capable of doing it, if you want to do it, then get the fuck up an do it. Or stop expecting other people to do it for you.

Life is a bitch. No argument there. But at the end of the day, so are you so you two should get along just fine! Just keep in mind that every person who you allow to disrespect you or take advantage of you is bound to tell someone else what happened. They may not make a big deal out of it but they will tell someone. There will always be another witness to what you allowed someone to do to you. That opens up the door for someone else to treat you the same. If you allowed it to happen without checking it at the door, you can't complain about it. I'm not saying that you should swing on every person who violates you in some way. But open your damn mouth. Just remember if you open your mouth more than twice and never put your words into action; it will be treated as if you never said anything at all. Empty words are worth just as much as silence. It doesn't do shit. At least staying quiet doesn't make you look stupid!

Moral of the story ... know your worth and don't ever let anyone treat you any less!

Motivational Tidbits

Just a little randomness to add to your Superbowl Sunday!!!! For those of you who are stuck in a situation that you are just not happy with here's some thought for you to ponder when your nice and drunk after the big game ...

1. If you are busting your ass for a dead end job or for a boss who barely knows your name, never the less the work you do, you need to pick ya lazy ass up, revamp your resume and start sending it out to whoever has an opening. If you don't feel appreciated, odds are you probably aren't and should pause and reflect on your situation. Last time I checked, you can't pay your bills with a pat on the back ... or that's right, you're not even getting that! Hmm, there's your answer!

2. If you are in a relationship that you are not benefiting from than you need to first think about what it is you want out of the relationship and respond accordingly. I'm not saying get up and leave someone just because they never remember to put the toilet seat down! I'm just saying, you shouldn't waste anymore time if you've know you can't deal with something that is never going to change.

3. If you are attending a Superbowl party and allowed a friend to convince you to change your outfit before you go (and you knew the outfit looked good), than you should seriously consider growing a backbone before the morning and stop letting people beat you in the head. They probably just didn't want you to look better than them!

4. Valentine's Day is around the corner ... before you just pick any random person to be your Valentine just so you don't spend the holiday alone ... keep in mind that only you have to face the music the morning after. Loneliness, alcohol and pity sex don't really make a good combination!

5. Be your own person. There is no one in this world who should love you more than you love yourself. You don't have to become a cocky asshole to love yourself! You can be humble and still know you're worth! It goes a long way if you genuinely believe how great you are! Corny but true!

Always remember that no one is going to live your life for you and you only get one life. Make sure you make every moment count. Mistakes happen, but there's no need to keep repeating the same ones! There's more than enough mistakes to be made for you to limit yourself to the same handful!

The Bottom Line

This life could offer so much potential if you choose to be open to it. NOTHING in this world is handed to you and if it is, it is almost guaranteed to be out of your control (with the exception of inheritance of course!) Do you really think someone is just going to waltz into your life and make your dreams your reality? Hell no! This is why you need to be aware of your surroundings, consider every options and actively look for new ones!

There's a world of money to be made out there, remember that each time you turn on your computer! Let's pause and reflect ... each time you sign on to your email, your browser, your social network, what do you see? Nothing but advertisements. Some of you are probably too ignorant to realize the ads but almost every graphic around the information you are searching for, is an ad. Who do you think is running those ads? People like you! Well, maybe not people exactly like you because those people are actually doing something with themselves. But you don't have to know these people personally to learn from them.

Let's break this down. How can you sit there and say that there are no jobs out there? I say this time and time again, but it's so true. There is plenty of money to be made out there IF you are open to the suggestion. All this recession really means is that you have to try harder, venture out into new things and of course, learn to accept change! Stop being so damn lazy and get out there. If you don't know where else to turn, go to friggin Google! Type in whatever interests you and start from there. You may spend a few hours sorting out all of the different websites but who cares, you ain't working right now so you got nothing but time on your hands? Why not utilize is in the smartest way possible?

Look, I work for a company who on the daily, gives anyone with common sense and a computer an opportunity to make a very decent bi-weekly income just for writing about things they already have! Who would have thought that you'd be able to buy a product you needed anyway, (using your own money of course) and then writing up a review about that product and getting paid for it? Only on the Internet could you do that! And there are plenty of income sources like this! Shiit, I make money just for posting advertisements that I know my friends and family will want to know about! It's slow money but it adds up rather quickly if you put the time into it. Don't got the time? Use another source on the Internet to schedule and post the ads for you! It's that easy and you have no excuses for being the lazy loser you have let yourself become!

Need more sources to make money? Hit my inbox and we'll discuss! I can't be putting everyone on but if you're serious about getting your shit together, I'll fill you in on the easiest ways to start! Just remember, one step at a time and don't let anyone hold you back from what you know you deserve! Not your friends, not your family, not your significant other and not your current boss. Odds are that your boss probably only sees you as an income expense and not a person anyway!

28 and Googable

So, I may not be a Google heavyweight like Mark Zuckerberg, but in all honesty, I don't care! I'm still quite proud of myself. I'm 28 years old and have been able to say, "Google Me Bitch," since the age of 18! Now that Google has changed their search settings, I'm actually the only suggestion that comes up once you put that hyphen in! Boo Yah Bitch!!!

Although my writing career is moving a bit slower than the game plan I had made for myself in High School - I'm content with how it's turning out. By this time next year - I'll be just where I want to be - maybe even further!

Yet, we are never promised tomorrow. And if God decides tomorrow that my time has come ... my good old pal Google will help my friends and family keep my memory alive for years to come! Soo.... Google Me Bitch!!! And tell em JoJo Said it hahahahaha!!

Nosey vs Observant

Although the similarities are endless, there is a distinct difference between a nosey person and one who is just observant. First and foremost, an observant person doesn't really give a shit about your conversation, they just happen to overhear it! This is what happens when you pay attention to your surroundings - or the other person is just loud as hell.

A nosey person, however, goes out of their way and exerts effort to ear hustle in your conversation. This means they feel they have a reason to listen and are therefore being nosey, involving themselves in what sometimes, most of the times, has nothing to do with them. More than likely in these situations you are dealing with a nosey person. Easiest way to tell the difference ... if the person jumps into the conversation or just laughs to themselves.

I'd like to consider myself a pretty observant person. It kinda comes with the Scorpio territory. But even I have my nosey side. It just so happens that 95% of the time, I can differentiate between the two! It's not that hard, you should try it sometime! I've always noticed these differences when it comes to geographics! Let's take Borough residents vs Long Island residents as the example. The majority of people who live in the Boroughs have to be aware of their surroundings at all times, for obvious reasons. Much more serious shit pops off in the Boroughs than it does in Long Island. Yet, people in Long Island, are for the most part, just nosey. Everyone who lives in Long Island could tell you that everyone is always in everyone else's shit! Not that Facebook hasn't made that factor any better!

Ah yes, thanks to Facebook - people now have an additional way to put their unnecessary two sense in. I'd say unsolicited but if you write some personal or some dumb shit on ya status - you are in fact soliciting comments!

Back to my point. An observant person, in most instances, is the paranoid person in the group who catches everything! Ev-ery-thing. Ev-ery-thing! (Katt Williams voice!) Observant people catch when you bust ya ass, the shit you mumble under your breath or the fact that you've worn the same jeans all week with different shirts! A nosey person actually looks for these things!

Next time you're out in public - take a minute to observe yourself. See which category you fall into and adjust yourself accordingly! And remember ... Jo Jo Said It!

A True Inspiration

How many of us know what osteogenesis impferecta is? Let me rephrase that. How many 19 year olds know what osteogensis imperfecta is? I've came across a few articles and conversations about this 19 year old girl from Ridgewood, Queens, who not only studies the more commonly called brittle bone disease, but is raising a 3 year old, tutoring students and studying physics at NYU!

Layla Quinones has an amazing story to tell after just 19 years in this world. According to the Daily News, this chic was so smart, she was taking Regents classes in middle school! Quinones got pregnant at 16 and forced to drop out of high school. Although pregnancy changed the location, it didn't stop her education. She attended GED classes, all while continuing to work throughout her pregnancy. This is not your typical 16 year old! The Daily News reported that "... she finished the program in 2008 with the highest GED score in the state that year."

Having a child is a life altering experience, at any age. But this girl is living proof that having a child doesn't have to be "life ending." She stayed true to her own passions to learn and her dreams to succeed. She's raising her now, three year old son and finishing her degree at NYU. Quinones' dedication to her education and to her son, combined with her intelligence, allows her to get paid for what she loves! She is actively involved in the CSTEP Program at NYU, which pays her for the research she dedicates herself to.

So next time you have the nerve to say you can't do something, remember this girl. Despite what life threw at her, she handled it and she kept it moving towards her goals. What have you done for yourself?

9-5 10-6

Secrets locked inside,
My eyes they do not lie,
These streets are nowhere to hide,
I go to work when the birds sing,
I’m up all night
My phone rings,
No one understands,
Was this God’s plan?
I am day and night,
In the day no one knows,
I hustle, dark or light,
In the night my money flows,
During the day my humble shows,
My daily routine keeps me grounded,
The night leaves my heart pounding,
Will I ever find peace?
Caught in between,
What is right and what is fast,
I hear what is fast doesn’t always last,
Am I blessed or cursed,
They say karma will always reimburse
Am I wrong because I can multiply?
Nothing about me can be simplified,
Time will only tell,
If I’ll make it into heaven or hell,
For now I have no apology,
I could never be sorry for being me…

What does our gut feeling really tell us?

Did you ever walk into a room and your chest feels tight or your stomach feels queasy? Did you ever think that those feelings may be a sign to get your ass outta there.. stat? Most of us don't either! However, there are some of us who know their bodies well enough to know when their intuition is telling them to do (or not to do) something!

Human intution is an interesting topic. I have read many books on the subject and although it fascinates me, I too, do not always listen to my "gut feelings." Ladies, we have a tendency to not trust our own gut feelings just because our gut feelings, usually defies what our hearts are trying to accomplish. I always did find it funny how us females will not even hold a conversation with someone if we get that feeling that they're "bad news." BUT, we will however, stay with a guy for however long it takes him to play the shit out of us, only to turn around and say, "I knew he was cheatin'!" (And we really wonder why men call us emotionally impulsive!)

Yes! Our intuition is that unexplainable feeling that someone is cheating on us, lying to us or more commonly, not telling us the whole story (lying by omission.) But this intuition doesn't just kick in with relationships. Intuition, if we listen to it, could help us succeed in business, define toxic friendships, it can even help us leave the club/bar at just the right moment before a fight breaks out and those lovely cops show up just in time to ruin the night!

People always associate intuition with the emotion of love. But as I said, this isn't always the case. If you still think it does, do yourself a favor, pick yourself up a copy of the book, "The Art Of Seduction." You'll soon realize that your intuition, is really the weakest counterattack of a relationship!

Air It Out Part 1

Since I have an opinion about everything, I've decided to share...

1. Why ask me if you look fat only to call me a bitch when I say yes! Real friends tell you yes when others would let you rock with a shirt that's blatantly too small.

2. It is much more amusing (and respectable) to tell the truth so why lie?

3. Females need to get approximately 6,000 words out per day (about 2,000 of them are actually important) ...just get over it and listen

4. If a person hasn't answered your calls in 6 months after telling you to lose their number...why are you still calling them? You are not important enough for me to change my number.

5. Domino's Lava Crunch Cake is the best stuff on earth...forget bout Snapple!

6. You cannot fault people for occasionally falling victim of human nature...but when human nature becomes an excuse for disloyalty and sheer retardation...u need to beat that person upside their head...the next person will thank you!

7. Mule kicks are great! So is throwin someone a quick Donkey Kong! (For those with the screwface on right now...a Donkey Kong is when you make a fist and bop someone on the top of their head ever so gently! lmao)

8. If everyone was the same there would not be two friends in the world...embrace people's differences

9. Never take those you love for granted...we are not promised tomorrow, why take the chance to have regrets of what you could have done or said today!

10. What goes around comes around... Reality is a concrete boomerang

11. Since the truth hurts maybe people should stop lying to themselves...makes it easier when someone else tells you how it is!

12. Even though I am the ringleader of this...it is still wrong...There are millions of ugly people in the world...we really shouldn't comment on them!

13. Minute Maid Cherry Limeade ROCKS!!!

14. I don't care if you are my husband or GOD himself (or herself) ... it is NEVER okay to eat my food without permission!

15. We were all born alone and we will all die alone... that should give us more of a reason to let people in so we leave a piece of us with them when it's our time to go.

16. Time is one of the only thing we can never replace so why do so many people waste it?

17. No man is worth your tears and the one who is won't make you cry!

18. A woman is just as evil as the man she stands behind.

19. A real friend walks in when the rest of the world walks out.

20. I am a firm believer in the saying "Men lead the way and a woman chooses whether or not to follow" Sometimes standing behind your man is the hardest thing to do...but only you know that mans worth...does he know yours?

One Voice

I have but one voice -

for years that one voice harbored in the silent safety of notebooks and napkins.

Though I spoke of and for many -

my voice was never heard.

It took one person to inspire me,

one emotion to carry me,

yet many years to convince me,

that my voice was worth hearing.

That my words were worth listening to.

My opinions changed as I spoke out -

the government gave me more to speak about.

Life gave me more to cry about.

Though I didn't - I wrote.

I wrote til pens ran out of ink,

til pencils lost their edge,

til the tears stopped trying to break through.

I finally had the courage and self-security to speak out.

Yet who would I speak to?

Where could my voice be heard loud enough not to be drowned out by others?

and would it?

I hesitated, I thought, I wrote, I thought some more...

yet I remained silent.

My voice stretched no further than select friends and family.

An abstract imagination grown insecure while rapidly evolving.

The thoughts controlled my creativity -

holding captive at times from the fairy tale I dreamed of.

Then it happened.

A poetry reading -

my friends and family starring up at me on a stage made of cheap wood -

silhouettes and shadows of eight shine on my face making the fear that much more visible.

The music stopped.

I heard my name being announced and I felt liberated - comfortable.

Like the stage of cheap wood was my home -

and the microphone was an object I was born with.

Like a baby's pacifier, it calmed me.

When I spoke - the crowd nodded in agreement with my words.

Their faces showed the same emotions I felt when writing.

My mother shed the tears I had held back in the transition from thought to paper.

Never again did I ask when my voice would be heard.

For now, and forever...when I want to be heard,

I will just speak louder!

The Gift I Couldn't Give

Today - like every other day lately...

I have nothing to offer you but my love -

but as soon as I rise above

the chaos and debt that my life is made up of,

I have every intention to embellish the crown

that invisibly rests upon your head because as your first born - I'd rather be dead...

than to have you walking around this earth -

without knowing and truly feeling that I appreciate your worth.

I could have bought you a card and wrote out a sentence,

signed my name to someone else's words as if mine didn't prove the same consensus...

but I don't need to spend the $4 on a Hallmark card,

because to show a Mother's love is priceless -

I'm giving you the words straight from my heart.

Though we have our different views and show our affections in different ways,

we battle through the same way of life and live through the same number of uncounted days.

Since neither of ours are unlimited - there should be none that finish through-

without hearing your voice and making sure you know

at the end of each - I still love you.

You are my mother - my only mother

the one who gave me her words and let me live to discover the lessons behind the truths she uncovered

We live and we learn

We lose and we earn

and eventually we give back since the tables always turn.

So on your 27th year celebrating the chance you've given -

by chance I'm referring to this life I am living...

remember my words;

not the absence of a card-

not the money you've spent when my life got too hard -

not the boyfriend you see for me inside your head...

just remember the truths in the words that I've said.

You are my mother

my definition of strength

the only example I had of "going the extra length,"

If a gift or a card could portray that intensity

and can identically match the level of what you mean to me...

it would probably cost a lot more than I have on me!

But regardless - I love you unconditionally

and more importantly -

I appreciate ALL that you've done for me.

Happy Mother's Day
